Caring for Your Lanuuk Swimsuit

Your Lanuuk swimsuit is more than just swimwear—it’s an investment in quality and craftsmanship. Proper care ensures it remains in beautiful condition season after season.

1. Understanding the Fabrics

  • Nylon is strong and resistant to mildew, but it can pick up dyes, pill over time, and is sensitive to heat and strong sunlight.

  • Elastane adds stretch and structure but is susceptible to damage from chlorine, bleach, and excessive heat.

Being mindful of these fabric properties will help protect the integrity of your swimsuit.

2. Avoid Excessive Chlorine

Although our fabrics are treated for chlorine resistance, prolonged or repeated exposure—especially in pools with high chlorine levels—can cause wear. Always rinse your suit immediately after swimming.

3. Steer Clear of Rough Surfaces

While our fabrics are soft and durable, contact with rough or abrasive surfaces can damage them. Because our swimsuits offer full coverage, they’re more likely to come into contact with surfaces, so consider the following:

  • Pool decks are abrasive—sit on a towel when poolside.

  • Sand can vary in coarseness—use a towel when sitting or lying on the beach and rinse your suit afterward.

  • Natural fiber beach bags can snag fabric—use a cover-up to avoid direct contact.

4. Avoid Lotions and Oils on the Fabric

Sunscreen, tanning oils, and cosmetics can break down delicate fabrics over time. Apply lotions in advance, allow them to absorb, and rinse your suit promptly if any product transfers. For stains, use cold water and a small amount of vinegar or mild detergent to soak the affected area.

5. Follow the Washing Guidelines

After each wear:

  • Rinse thoroughly in cold water, even in the shower.

  • Avoid wrapping your wet swimsuit in a towel used for drying off, as it may contain chlorine or chemicals.

  • Wash light and dark colors separately—white garments like Lula White should be washed alone or with other white items to prevent discoloration.

For best results:

  • Hand wash only. Even delicate cycles may introduce heat and friction that degrade the fabric.

  • Use only mild soap. Avoid bleach, regular detergents, or fabric softeners, which can damage or burn through the material.

  • Treat stains gently with a spot cleaner, vinegar, or baking soda before washing.

  • Gently squeeze out water—never wring the suit. Roll it in a towel to remove excess moisture.

  • Lay flat to dry in a shaded, well-ventilated area. Avoid hanging, which can stretch the fabric, especially in full-coverage designs. Do not expose directly to sunlight to prevent fading.

6. Proper Storage

How you store your swimsuit matters:

  • Store at room temperature and avoid plastic containers, which can trap moisture and cause mildew.

  • Alternate between swimsuits. Allow at least 24 hours between wears to let the fabric recover and retain its elasticity.

  • Reserve a separate suit for hot tubs. High temperatures and strong chlorine levels can reduce the lifespan of your swimwear.

At ModestBeauty.co, we believe elegance should never compromise on quality. With these care tips, your swimsuit will continue to offer comfort, coverage, and style—just as it was designed to.
